Site Engineer
Main purpose of the position:
Function: Construction
Location: Nairobi (but extensive travelling countrywide and East Africa)
Country: Kenya
Reports to (designation): Construction Management Head
Main purpose of the position:
Reporting to the Construction Management head, the post holder will be responsible for the
effective implementation of the planned design, providing all setting out on site to ensure
that work progresses on time and that all checks are carried out on a regular basis.
Key responsibilities:
a) Ensure accurate setting out and levelling of the works in accordance with the
drawings/ specifications
b) Ensure quality control and testing of work and materials, where required, is carried
out in accordance with the specification requirements.
c) Ensure works are carried out in accordance with the Construction Programme and
procedures
d) Monitoring construction progress and quality of work.
e) Preparation of daily and weekly progress reports
f) Acting as the main technical advisor, direct and supervise day to day operations of
sub-contractor / installer when required, resolving any technical issues that may
arise.
g) Delivering tool box talks on site and ensuring safety is observed on site.
h) Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of activity related to projects to
enable traceability.
i) Undertake all relevant training and development activities as required.
j) Highlighting potential specification/ design issues for comments before they affect
construction and programme
k) Other duties as delegated from time to time by line manager or any other person designated
in their absence
1. Qualifications required:
a. Diploma in Building Construction
2. Experience required:
a. General work experience (years): 3 years
b. Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): -2 years’ experience in erection of preengineered steel structures with a major local suppliers
c. Industry: Construction
